The Lighting Book
By Deyan Sudjic
Lighting is so important, it's kinda weird that most people don't consider it enough. It makes an even bigger difference to the appearance of a room, even greater than repainting, re-upholstering or refurnishing. The lighting can really affect the mood of a room, that can be radically alter the space with a simple switch -- or (if you're like us) 5 switches on strategically placed lamps. We hate top light! So hideous!
If you're as obsessed with lighting as we are, or you're an interior designer worth their salt, this in-depth, super practical design source book is (pardon the pun) the brightest decorating investment you'll ever make. Not only will it give you some excellent ideas, but it will show you how to execute them too. It even gets down to the nitty gritty, with a visual index of the wide variety of light bulbs and hardware available, their capabilities and uses. Sounds tedious, but no! These aren't your average energy saving globes from the supermarket. There's some crazy borderline-Memphis Style fittings in here that have to be seen to be believed.
