This is probably one of the most beautifully produced exhibition catalogues we've ever seen.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition: Richard Avedon Portraits at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York on Sept 26, 2002 to Jan 5th, 2003, it is a slipcased, accordion-fold collection of 50 black and white portraits from the past 50 years. A classy package of Avedon's greatest hits, it features portraits of many well-known faces, including Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Roy Lichtenstein and Renata Adler. It also carries an essay by curator Maria Morris Hambourg and Met research assistant Mia Fineman, as well as a brief word from the photographer himself.
It would make a great gift for the Avedon completist.
