Nine Artist Potters

By Alison Littlemore and Kraig Carlstrom

‘Artist Potters’ are quite different from ‘Potter Potters’.

As artists, these nine Australian Potters pushed the form, medium and surface in a new direction that hadn’t been seen before. Reading over the interviews, you can feel that the artist’s working in pottery are still asking the same questions that are asking in today’s at magazines – can pottery be art?

We say, who cares! Technique is technique and Ideas are Ideas, try blending the two together dum-dums!

Sprague & Greenaway’s weird totems still look fantastic after all this time and same goes with Margaret Dodd’s car sculptures.
