Joyce Baronio: 42nd Street Studio
In the late 1970’s Joyce Baronio spent four years photographing sex show performers in her studio on 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, while she was studying under Walker Evans at Yale. She became the “house photographer” documenting the lives of others. Fascinated with LGBQTI beauty contests she attended in New York clubs, she wanted to photograph her subjects the way they chose fit, taking their lead in her studio and adding her talent for black and white photography and natural lighting.
A big, gorgeous large format photo book of dancers, strippers, show-offs and extroverts and a grand coffee table book for a Big Ego.
