Japanese Style

Yet another fantastic interiors book from shop favourite Suzanne Slesin, author of the equally excellent interiors books: The New York Times: Home, High-Tech: The Industrial Style and Sourcebook for the Home, French Style and The International Book of Lofts. Phew! This woman was a powerhouse (pun intended)!

Here Slesin visited an enormous range of houses and apartments - from luxury, avant-garde apartments, to centuries-old farmhouses and inns -  many mixing traditional and modern Japanese styles. These homes reflect a sublimely opulent Western look, as well as those inspired by a Zen-monastery-like simplicity.

It's clear that on this densely populated island nation, elegance and restraint has been refined to a high art and this beautiful book (decorative end pages et. al.) does it's subject great justice.
