The easy painter, the joyous painter, the prolific painter and the restless painter, everything seems to come naturally to David Hockney. He worked in theatre for many years, which had the effect of making his work exceptionally fresh because he really never had the time to question it.

From David – “there’s always something left over from another painting – a few clues. I tend to push into little areas I’ve not explored; I also tend to drop something I’ve use for a long time and move on. I hate the idea of completely repeating myself”
