By Mario Mariotti
The original title of this book is Inganni, the Italian word for deceptions, illusions, or impostures. The English renderings are harsher than the Italian, lacking the connotation, however the title Humages perfectly brings together the visual ideas of Humans and Images.
Slightly more bizarre than Hanimations, Humages incorporates the human face is all sorts of angles. Mariotti fools the eye of the beholder, and even the mechanical eye of the camera by making up his face in new, unexpected appearances. Witty deceptions abound that will fascinate children and designers.
