The Quilt: Stories from the NAMES Project

Written by Cindy Ruskins. Photographs by Matt Herron. Design by Deborah Zemke.

With an introduction by Elizabeth Taylor.

A deeply affecting and very important publication that documents the making of The Quilt by The NAMES Project. Made around the early to mid-80s, each panel on The Quilt celebrated and memorialised the life of someone who had died of AIDS. And as a whole, is an intense and heart breaking statement of life, love, death and grief - the common bonds we share as humans.

The size of two football fields, The Quilt toured 25 major American cities and was exhibited in 1987 at The Mall in Washington D. C.
